All things Sarasota - The Jasmer Group: Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island

Anna Maria Island is an unassuming 7 mile stretch of barrier island located on Florida's West Coast.  It's comprised of 3 cities; Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach and Anna Maria.   Located just north of Longboat Key, it offers visitors and residents alike the old Florida charm that existed before developers built high rises and large resorts on other nearby islands.

Anna Maria Island is for those seeking the ultimate in a laid back lifestyle.   It's dotted with great restaurants like Duffy's, where you can get one of the best burgers in town, to Zagat ranked Beach Bistro for that special occasion.   It is one of the only places in the Sarasota-Bradenton area where you will find beach front restaurants and bars.  The Beach House, appropriately named for it's beach front location, is a great place to enjoy dinner and a cocktail at sunset.  It's also a popular spot for weddings.  I know from experience because have been to quite a few there and they are terrific fun.

On the bay side of Anna Maria Island you will find two fishing piers both with restaurants located on site.  Bradenton Beach City Pier is located at the end of Bridge Street, which is a fun place to walk and shop.

The Rod and Reel Pier is located at the northern end of Anna Maria Island and offers great views of Tampa Bay and the towering Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

If you are looking for a laid back place to call home or planning a vacation on Florida's West Coast, look no further than Anna Maria Island.  You will think you're in a Jimmy Buffett song....It's 5 O'Clock somewhere.......

It is one the prettiest areas in the world.  It is also one of the most expensive.  How could any body but the super rich afford Bird Key?

Hi Conrad, you have your areas confused.  Anna Maria is not the same as Bird Key.  Anna Maria also happens to be one of the least expensive beach front towns in Southwest Florida.  Bird Key is a small island located in Sarasota Bay as you approach St Armands Circle from Downtown Sarasota.  Yes, it is expensive as most homes are waterfront McMansions.   You are right, both are beautiful areas.
